For pom pom critters enrichment last week, I did a Valentine’s Day themed activity. Of course.
Not only do the kids go crazy for pom pom critters, they also go crazy for weepuls. So for this activity I decided to combine the two and create Valentine’s Day Angel Weepuls. Each kid made two; one for themselves and one for their ‘Valentine’.
I do understand that this particular craft would have been more useful if posted BEFORE today. But I have been a busy busy bunny and I failed, however, this can always be adjusted to fit any occasion.
Materials You Need (to make 1):
1 1″ pom pom
1 TINY pink pom pom
2 googly eyes
red felt with a sticker bottom (found at Micheal’s)
sparkly pipe cleaner (found at Micheal’s)
a “Happy Valentine’s Day” strip of paper
Step 1: Cut a heart out of the red felt and a heart out of the white felt; making the white heart a little larger than the red
Step 2: Glue the strip of paper to the pointy part of the red heart; making sure you’ll be able to read the message when you glue the pom pom ball on top in the next step
Step 3: Glue the 1″ pom pom ball on top of the strip of paper and the pointy part of the red heart
Step 4: Make a halo with the sparkly pipe cleaner
I did this by wrapping one of ends around my pinky finger to create the circle part; I also made it a point to leave a semi-long part at the end for gluing
Step 5: Glue the semi-long part of the pipe cleaner to the back of the weepul, arranging just right so the halo part hangs over the head
Step 6: Glue the white felt heart right ways up to the back of weepul and over the pipe cleaner to create the wings
Step 7: Glue on the googly eyes and the nose to front of the weepul
Step 8: Keep one for yourself and give the other to your Valentine.
Thanks for reading. And remember, your mistakes make you beautiful!
